Nigerian Army Buries 12 Slain Officers Killed By Militia Youth


12 slain officers who died in Bonta village in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State were given a mass burial by the Nigeria Military authorities.

The mass burial was graced by Governor Samuel Ortom, Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS, Major General Adeyemi Yekini, the Commanding Officer, 72 Battalion, military personnel and also family members of the deceased soldiers.

Governor Ortom expressed sadness over the killing of the 12 military personnel in Konshisha Local Government Area of the state. He sympathized with the President Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff over the death of the Army personnel in the hands of the militias.

He promised to fish out all the perpetrators involved in the atrocity while apologizing to the families of the fallen heroes.

Recall that gunmen killed 11 soldiers and an officer in the central Nigerian state of Benue. Confirming the incident of Friday, Army Spokesperson Mohammed Yerima in a statement said the army troops were attacked during their daily operational checks. The statement reads;

“Nigerian Army troops operating in Benue State came under attack while on routine operational task,”
